Requirements for Entering The Bahamas

Getting To Mangrove Cay From Nassau

Flamingo Air and  LeAir fly from Nassau directly into Mangrove Cay daily.

They are alternating weeks, so please check both web sites when you are booking your flights. You may have to book inbound on one airline and outbound on the other.

Getting here just got easier

Effective September 20, 2022, unvaccinated travelers are no longer required to have a negative COVID-19 test to enter The Bahamas.

Effective October 1, 2022, masks will no longer be required in public settings other than accessing any healthcare facility.

For further information and any changes, please visit The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation’s website.

  • The island is very remote.
  • We do not cater to small children.
  • We have our supplies delivered three times a month. If you have any dietary restrictions, please inform us well in advance so we can prepare.
  • All United States citizens need a passport to travel to and from The Bahamas.
  • If you are flying back to the United States or through the US, you will clear US Customs and Immigration in Nassau. The Nassau Airport Authority suggests that you get to the airport two to three hours prior to your departure time.
  • Upon arrival in The Bahamas, you will clear Bahamian Customs and Immigration. This can also take time depending on the number of arrivals.
  • Booties/Water Shoes: Bring aqua shoes, booties, or other water shoes.
  • Fishing Gear: Bonefishing guides only have limited gear, so bring what you need.
  • Flashlight: If you’re planning to walk to a conch stand, local restaurant, or bar at night, consider bringing a flashlight. (We can always call a taxi if you prefer one.)
  • Mask, Fins, and Snorkel: You cannot purchase or rent these items on the island, so you need to bring them with you.
  • Other Items: There are only a few small stores for snacks and other items, and they may not always have what you are looking for. It is best to bring your own batteries, chargers, sunscreen, insect repellant, cigarettes, etc.

Because of the remote location of Mangrove Cay, if you think you will need it, bring it with you.
